Gay Pride in Kiev Cancelled

According to RIAN, The first gay pride parade in Ukraine planned for May 20 was canceled due to threats against its members, reported Ukrainian news agency UNIAN quoting the organizers.

“Parade of sexual minorities planned for today in the center of Kiev is canceled because of ‘some threats’,” said in the statement.

Participants of gay pride parade planned to walk along the embankment to the historic neighborhood of Kiev, Podol. The event was sanctioned by the city authorities.

Yesterday evening the opponents of gay pride parade in the social networking websites offered “strong men” to prevent the event from taking place.
BayBak reminds that a similar parad is organised to take place in Baku, North Azerbaijan. But extrimist and islamic parties have already gave a statment calling for a blood shed if the parade is to go ahad. Iranian government supports islamic parties in making their threat happen. Azerbaijani officials are helping and supporting the gay parade organisation by giving a boat and also making donations.
