Acording to Cihan, Pro-Kurdish Diyarbakır Mayor Osman Baydemir criticized the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) for exploiting children by using them in its activities.

Baydemir attended a symposium on Thursday conducted by the Diyarbakır Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Policy as part of a project titled “Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Training Project.”

Baydemir said children should not be joining PKK demonstrations or throwing stones at police panzers, but should be attending school and playing games in school playgrounds with friends. Children should hold pens, not sticks and stones, he added.
