“Running Scared”, the Azeri entry for Eurovision 2011 has just been premièred on the official YouTube channel of the Eurovision Song Contest. The song is performed by Eldar Qasimov & Nigar Camal, who will perform under the stagename “Ell & Nikki” for Eurovision.

The song was chosen from 70 potential entries sent into ÍTV, the Azeri broadcaster incharge of Eurovision. Due to the high standard of some of the songs, a professional jury chose a shortlist of 5 entries, from which “Running Scared” was chosen.

“Running Scared” was written and composed by Swedish team Stefan Örn, Sandra Bjurman & Iain Farquharson. Örn and Bjurman also wrote “Drip Drop”, the Eurovision song for Azerbaijan in 2010 which placed 5th in the final.

The video to the countries’ 2011 entry has been filmed in Kyiv, Ukraine by specialists acting on behalf of promotional company Euromedia who are responsible for the Azeri entrants this year. Another, more expensive video will also be shot in April for the song which will be used for rotation on music channels over Europe.escdaily
