ATAA CELEBRATES THE 87TH ANNIVERSARY OF TURKISH VICTORY DAY
Dear Members of the Turkish American Community, Today we are celebrating the 87th Anniversary of our great victory at Dumlupınar, which was the final battle of the Turkish War of Independence.
The Battle of Dumlupınar began on August 26 1922 and ended with a decisive Turkish victory under Mustafa Kemal’s leadership on August 30. This date became one of the greatest turning points in Turkish history, symbolizing one of the foundational moments of the Turkish Republic.
The Turkish victory of August 30 not only prompted the reversal of the invasion by imperialist forces that had started in 1919, but also paved the way for the Kemalist Revolution in the years to follow.
On this important date, the Assembly of Turkish American Associations commemorates those who died for our country during the War of Independence and once again remembers Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s everlasting legacy.
