“Family walk” in Tabriz turned to nationalists march
More than 300,000 people had joined a family walk in Tabriz, capital of Azerbaijan.
According to BayBak, nationalists had joined the march to demonstrate against Fars chauvinism. They also condemned “joke telling” of former president Mohammad Khatami. His action could end him in prison if was tried in a democratic country. He insults the family of Islam prophet, saying that his daughter had sex before marriage!
Today’s march was called by Iranian local authorities, as to prevent mass demonstration remembering 3-rd anniversary of 22 May 2006 in Azerbaijan where millions of Azerbaijanis protested Iranian regime’s anti-Turk policy.
BayBak reports that more than 10 people are arrested this morning, more than 20 people were injurd badly. Police and civil agents used tear gas and electric sticks to hit protesters.
Well known Azerbaijani lecturer, Alirza Farshi Yekenli, Sajjad Qarabaghi, Bayram Khaleqzadeh, Vahid Aqajanı, Sahar Fathi, Hale Fathi, Ali Islami and Asgar Chamani are amongst arrested people.
CD’s and flyers were distributed in city and in the march. CD contains the video of the party where Mr. Khatami insults Turks and Islam, it also has extracts of GunAz TV (first and only TV channel for Southern Azerbaijan) programs which is banned in Iran. Flyers had messages from political parties such as AMAT and Milli Party (National Party), it also had articles and announcements of demonstrations those will take place in coming days.
Today’s march was being broadcasted live by channel 3 of the government. There were also agents recording video and taking photos of demonstrators.
