Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez announced about recognition of South Ossetia and Abkhazia’s independence by Venezuela at the talks with his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev on September 10, RIA Novosti said.

“Venezuela recognizes independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia,” he said.

Up to now Russia and Nicaragua have recognized independence of both Republics.

“Thank you. You have made several important statements. We will discuss it,” Medvedev said.

“We always think that recognition is a sovereign affair of each country to recognize or not to recognize. Certainly, we are not indifferent towards fortune of these countries. I would like to thank you for this decision,” Russian President said.trend
