UPDATE NO 2 ON MR. SEID METINPUR
Please find enclosed Update No 2 to our Communication (Ref: 458/2007; Date 22 July 200) to safeguard human rights of Mr. Seid Metinpur, a distinguished human rights defender of Southern Azerbaijan persecuted arbitrarily by Iranian authorities. The document provided for your attention is given in Table 1 and is the translation of Letter No 2 from his wife, Mrs. Etiyye Metinpur. This brilliant peace of writing is so powerful that we felt obliged to share her inherent insight into human rights with you. We draw your attention to her confirmations that*:
• Mr. Metinpur has been deprived of his liberty for 200 days and he is being tortured.
• The Iranian authorities are aiming to beat confession out of Mr. Metinpur for a crime that he has never committed.
• She exposes a deep-going hypocrisy in Iranian human rights defence and their miserable treatment of any neighbouring nation not belonging to the so called “super Aryan race.â€
We are pleased to read in her letter that Mrs. Metinpur is defiant and regards human rights defenders as individuals who give a new lease of life to humanity despite outrageous acts of culprit authorities. We cannot help admiring her commendable resolve to remain determined as ever and metaphorically speaking we regard her marriage with her husband as a “perfect match made in heaven.â€
Her insight into human rights defence also sets a tremendous challenge for international human right defending organisations when she implies that the nation of Southern Azerbaijan is helpless and isolated and the Iranian-centric nation with impoverished national consciousness is indifferent and in a deep hibernation. She may be appealing to God in what ever mode, nonetheless we would like to mention that we do not live in the middle ages but in the 21st century and the body of UN human right declarations are precisely meant for people like Mrs. Metinpur not to feal so desperate. By the strength of such powerful evidence once again we appeal to you stating outright that the defence of the nation of Southern Azerbaijan only rests within the mandates of the UN entrusted upon you. We trust that you are meeting the challenge and are true to the trust of the mandates within your responsibilities. Thank you for your care.
