AKP and MHP offer amending the 10th and 42nd articles of the Constitution. According to the 10th article all have equal rights.
It is offered to amend the sentence in the article “Government agencies and offices have to act inline with the principle of equal opportunities before the law†as:
“Government agencies and offices have to act and use all kind of social opportunities inline with the principle of equal opportunities before the lawâ€. “Using all kind of social opportunities†envisages women’s wearing headscarves in higher schools. The 42nd article of the constitution covers the right to education. The first paragraph of the 42nd article says:
“No one can be deprived of the right to education. The coverage of this right is determined by the lawâ€.
The offered amendment is as follows:
“No one can be deprived of the right to education with causes not indicated openly in the law. The coverage and usage of the right is determined by the lawâ€.
The Republican People’s Party will go to the Constitutional Court in an attempt to block the changes, if they are adopted in the parliament.
