Turkish delegation to hold contacts in US

. ErdoÄŸan will firstly meet President Obama in his contacts in Washington, which will take place at 6.30 p.m. Turkish time in Oval Office.

The two leaders will take up bilateral, regional and international issues that include fight with terrorism, determining a road map for the Cyprus talks process, Turkey-Armenia and Armenia-Azerbaijan relations,


ErdoÄŸan will firstly meet President Obama in his contacts in Washington, which will take place at 6.30 p.m. Turkish time in Oval Office.

The two leaders will take up bilateral, regional and international issues that include fight with terrorism, determining a road map for the Cyprus talks process, Turkey-Armenia and Armenia-Azerbaijan relations, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Middle East, Iran’s nuclear program, withdrawal of US troops from Iraq, non-proliferation of mass destruction weapons and energy supply security.

Obama and ErdoÄŸan will hold a joint press conference following their meeting, and come together at a working dinner.

Prime Minister Erdoğan is due to deliver a speech at the Johns Hopkins University titled “Turkey Ensuring Peace through Diplomacy in the 21st Century” and to attend meetings of several Turkish institutions.

The Turkish Premier is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan, State Minister and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bağış, Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu, Minister of Public Works Mustafa Demir and Second Chief of General Staff Aslan Güner.

Before leaving for the United States, Prime Minister ErdoÄŸan said that his visit will enable improving and strengthening Turkey-US relations and reflecting political and military relations to the economic and trade relations.

Regarding America’s request for more troops in Afghanistan, Erdoğan said that Turkish Armed Forces had increased the number of troops from 700 to 1,750 without any request and added that Turkey has already done what she could do in that country.

The Turkish Prime Minister also stated that Turkey is ready to mediate between Israel and Syria.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu met Alexander Downer, UN Secretary General’s Special Adviser on Cyprus, where he expressed Turkey’s expectation to set a schedule for the Cyprus peace talks.trt
