General Işık Koşaner released a farewell message after his retirement letter was approved by the Prime Ministry.
In a farewell message to brothers in arms, KoÅŸaner said it was impossible for him to continue in his role as he was unable to defend the rights of men who had been detained as a consequence of a flawed judicial process.
“We remain confident that members of the Turkish Armed Forces will be successful with their outstanding discipline, bravery and sacrifice,†he said.trt
