The 88th Anniversary of the Great Victory Day is being celebrated throughout the country and TRNC.
The August 30th is the important turning point in the Turkish history.
Chief of General Staff General Işık KoÅŸaner lead a crowded military delegation to visit Atatürk’s Mausoleum Anıtkabir. General KoÅŸaner paid his homage to the founder of the Republic of Turkey Mustafa Kemal Atatürk with the other commanders of Turkish Armed Forces and signed the book of honour.
General KoÅŸaner wrote: “This Great Victory has been the important turning point for the Turkish history that paved the way for the Turkish nation to attain our Republic as a guarantee to take place among contemporary civilizations in unity and solidarity forever. With modern technological weaponry, superior training and knowledge brave staff of the Turkish Armed Forces would remain a source of pride for the Turkish Nation.”
Celebrations are being held at the General Staff Headquarters.
Celebrations started with playing National Anthem at Atatürk Culture Center where President Abdullah Gül took his place at the Stage of Honour. Celebrations continued with Turkish Stars Show.
The August 30th reception will be given at the Army House in the evening.
In his message at the August 30th Victory Day President Abdullah Gül said that the ultimate Victory on August 30th with a joint struggle of army and nation had opened the way for the establishment of a state with national sovereignty that was the fundamental aim of Liberation War.
TGNA Speaker Mehmet Ali Åžahin in his August 30th Victory Day message said that this victory was not only the success of a military struggle but also the beginning of the rebith of a nation and establishment of a contemporary state at the same time.
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in his message said that the foundations of the Republic of Turkey were laid with this victory that had prepared ground for Misak-ı Milli or National Treaty and crowned our legendary Independence Struggle.
In his August 30th Victory Day message Chief of General Staff General Işık Koşaner said that this victory was attained with big difficulties and sacrifices and it was the beginning of the march of Turkish Nation on the way of a contemporary civilization.trt
