Qoshachai is an Azerbaijani city, populated by Turkish nationals. In recent years however, a planed immigration took place from Kurdish area’s, even from Iraq and Syria.
In the uprising of the May 2006, Qoshachai was among the first Azerbaijani cities which started mass protests against Iranian discrimination of Turks. Several people killed in security forces direct attacks and some badly injured.
Iranian politicians have started playing Kurdish card against Azerbaijani Turks. They support Kurdish terrorism in Azerbaijani territories and also create more tension between Turks and minority Kurds. Iranian regime has also changed Qoshachai’s name to Miandoab! to show the region is not Turkish!
