Defense Minister, Colonel General Safar Abiyev received Carolyn Browne, newly-appointed British plenipotentiary and extraordinary ambassador to Azerbaijan.
Defense Ministry’s press service told the APA.
This is a familiarizing meeting. Mr. Abiyev congratulated the guest on her new appointment and wished her success. They exchanged views on prospects of relations between the two countries and military-political situation in South Caucasus.
Mr. Abiyev touched upon Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict and said that Armenia that has not fulfilled the demands of 4th resolution of UN Security Council, can not occupy 20 percent territory of Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan supports a peacefully solution to the conflict. “If peace negotiations do not yield desirable results, we will resort to other means to liberate our territoryâ€
Mr. Abiyev expressed his hope that military cooperation between the two countries will more develop during activity of new ambassador.
