Case of Mr. Abdollah Saduqi

Pursuant to letter # 20910 dated Feb. 09, 2010 Mr. Abdollah Saduqi, Azerbaijani journalist and civil activist, after fourteen days on hunger strike has been transferred to clinic section of Tabriz detention center, with assault and battery, due to his extreme weakness, stomach bleeding, severe vertigo, and blood pressure drop, according to his family on Tuesday March the 2nd.
His brother Mr. Husein Saduqi stated that Mr.Abdollah Saduqi has lost twenty kilogram’s of his weight.
Mr. Abdollah Saduqi almost one month after his detention, by means of letter has informed authorities that in protest to extension of his illegal detention and uncertainty of his status, he’ll go on hunger strike on Thursday Feb. 18th. After going on hunger strike he was transferred to housing number ten with criminals inmates, and also they have encouraged the inmates to assault and bother him. According to reliable source he was harmed, beaten, and hurt by criminal inmates, and finally he was transferred to solitary confinement at same housing. He is accused of propagandizing against the regime by means of publication and reproduction of posters for Tractor Soccer Club of Tabriz.
Arresting of Azerbaijanis cultural and civil activists, sealing and shutting down of posters printing and publication centers for Tractor Soccer Club of Tabriz, prosecution, and annoyance of them is happing in the condition while the posters were printed by permission of Tractor Soccer Club, and permit of Tabriz Department of Guidance.
South Azerbaijan National Unity Council, SANUC, is taking a part for the exposure of problem in the international arena, for the same token we strongly condemn baseless arrest of Mr. Abdollah Saduqi, and others, demanding immediate and unconditional release of him, and others.
