President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev congratulated the people on the occasion of Novruz Holiday, APA reports.

Novruz is a gift of nature to the people and for long centuries it has symbolized the abundance, plenty and goodwill. This holiday, which comes to our land on the first day of the spring, on the day of equinox, called on the people to the unity and peace, the President said. “The spring ceremonies and traditions, standing the test of centuries, is an unexampled heritage from our ancestors. Novruz Holiday is the symbol of our national existence and cultural-spiritual values and it is a national holiday of our independent republic, which is celebrated throughout the country. The renovating mood of the spring holiday, which is increasing purposefulness of our people to build and to create, keeps harmony with the heartwarming achievements in the life of our country significant with the dynamic development, and wide construction and renovation works in the capital and regions. This year Novruz becomes a holiday of Azerbaijani mugam, which passed to its new era, and is significant with the International Mugam Festival”.

President Aliyev said memory of the sons of Azerbaijan, who sacrificed themselves for the independence and territorial integrity of Motherland, was respectfully commemorated on this holiday.
