Omid Shokri an Azerbaijani researcher and writer is arrested

Omid Shokri is a well known writer and researcher who’s works been used as reference by other activists. His education continues in Turkey and is working to highlight political, economical and cultural discriminations in Azerbaijan, especially in Ardabil region where he was born in. He is the editor in chief of “Sayan†magazine.
According to BayBak, Omid Shokri was questioned by Ettelaat (Inteligent service) officers based on Iran-Turkey custom. His passport was seized by official and he was asked to be present at passport office of Ardabil in 2 days. When attended the office, Mr. Shokri get arrested with no warrant or any official request from courts.
BayBak adds that Mr. Shokri was able to have a very short phone call with his family. There is no information about charges he is facing or where he is kept in. His fathers home been searched by Ettelaat officers and books, PC and CD’s been seized.
