According to ANS, NATO publicized its opinion on presidential elections in Azerbaijan!

The statement lauds the remarkable progress during the elections held in the country on October 15 and notes the elections did not fully meet committments undertaken by Azerbaijan.

Recent election in Azerbaijan was held without opposition taking part in it, and regardless of all independent organizations indicating illegality of the process.

NATO issued statement with respect to reports from the international election observers from OSCE, Council of Europe and the European Parliament indicating progress in the conduct of Azerbaijan’s presidential elections on 15 October 2008. The statement lauds the remarkable progress during the elections held in the country on October 15 and notes the elections did not full ymeet committments undertaken by Azerbaijan.

“Azerbaijan is the valuable partner of NATO and we hope the dialogue and cooperation as well as our support to reforms in Azerbaijan will continue and strengthen, NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer said in his statement on presidential elections in Azerbaijan.
