MHP holds brotherhood rally

Turkey’s opposition Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) and its supporters held a mass rally in Tandoğan Square of capital Ankara on Sunday.
Titled “Live and Perpetuate a Thousand Year-old Brotherhood”, the event drew huge participation by party members. Chairman of the party Devlet Bahçeli, in his address, highlighted brotherhood of the nations and reiterated that there is no difference between citizens from distinct provinces of Turkey.
Facing frisk by security staff, party members gathered in Tandoğan early morning. Nearly one hour later, MHP chairman Bahçeli arrived at the Square and delivered one-and-a-half hour speech, which staged bold reaction at the government’s democratic thaw.
“Wherever you were born in, wherever you live in, whatever your native language is, the name of these assets is Turkish nation. They are leafs and branches of the same stem. They are rivers flowing into the same sea. So inseparable,” said Bahçeli.
The MHP chairman noted that all segments are named under Turkish nation. “This is what we man by a thousand year-old brotherhood,” said Bahçeli, adding that his party is ready to embrace each individual.
Anti-terrorism demonstrations and mass protests were also staged in other parts of the country. In the southern province of Antalya, a group of demonstrators waved posters of Atatürk and unfurled Turkish flags while chanting slogans against terrorism.
In Konya, protesters rallied in the city centre and shouted anti-terrorism slogans, in accompany with Turkish flags.
In Bodrum district, demonstrators gathered in Atatürk Square and marched along Neyzen Tevfik Street.trt
