2nd of April 2010 people from Southern Azerbaijan gathered in Lake Urmu to show their concerns about the problems which the lake suffers from. This was because of the manmade and natural causes those make the lake to shrink and die. According to BayBak, more that 30000 people wanted to go near the lake and offer a glass of water each to show that Lake Urmu is suffering from thirst. Lake Urmu is an ultra salty lake with an important role in regions environment and people’s lives.

There is reports of clash between special forces and families. There are nearly 150 people arrested and many injured and suffered from beatings and tear gas attacks.
