Iranian police prevented people from gathering in Lake Urmu

. | According to BayBak, more than 30000 people were present near side by Urmu Lake and most of them were families. Today was the day which Azerbaijanis mad their voice heard once more and show their unity in defending their national-cultural heritage. BayBak adds that all Fars media had boycotted the event which had started weeks ago by calling environmental activists to support the campaign to save Lake Urmu. However, all the medias, those who are pro government and also those owned by the people who call themselves “Green Movement†were against the campaign. They even threatened people from attending the place of campaign by calling the act as a “separatist†act! |
Today is 13-th of Farvardin (first month of New Year) which is the day of nature, regarding Iranain calendar! According to BayBak, Azerbaijanis had planned to gather around Urmu Lake to call to save the lake from drought. However, Iranian police and Ettelaat officers attacked people and arrested nearly 130 of them, there are many who are suffering from the beatings and also from the tear gas thrown to the crowed.
