First stage of construction completed in “Genocide memorial complex†at Guba mass burial site, evidence of genocide committed by Armenians against Azerbaijanis

The construction of “Genocide memorial complex†in Guba on the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation will be completed in summer, 2012, Adil Akhundov, the foreman of AIKON CPIT LLC, which is constructing “Genocide memorial complexâ€, told APA’s north bureau.
He said the construction began in November-December, 2010.
“Heavy concrete work and installation of metal constructions have been completed. Concrete tiles will be placed, decorative work done in the second stage,†he said.
Akhundov said despite cold weather, construction is being continued.
Guba genocide mass burial site was discovered on April 1, 2007. The employees of Archeology and Ethnography Institute of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences found out the bones of more than 400 people. More than 50 of the remains belonged to children, 100 to women, the rest to the old men. Along with Azerbaijanis, Lezgins, Jews, Tats and representatives of other ethnic groups killed by Armenians were buried there.
In 2009, Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev allocated AZN 1 million for construction of “Genocide memorial complex†in Guba.
