Newly-elected President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus DerviÅŸ EroÄŸlu said Greek Cypriots will be willing to reach a deal in case European Union lifts the isolations.
Noting that Brussels should give up its double-standard approach, EroÄŸlu said Greek Cypriots will adopt a more understandable and compromising stance opposing that the Union lifts the embargos.
European Union, on the other hand, will be backing EroÄŸlu in comprehensive Cyprus talks aiming to reach a solution.
Greek Cypriots fearful about EroÄŸlu
Greek Cypriots are having fears that Eroğlu’s backing a two-state solution instead of a federal administration will cause some serious problems during the talks.
Eroğlu’s negotiation strategies
Mentioning his negotiation strategies to TRT, Eroğlu said he will bring “single sovereignty†agreement, on which Talat and Christofias agreed upon, to agenda.
EroÄŸlu further said he will reopen six chapters for talks with Greek Cypriots.
Earliest meeting with Christofias is in May
Off talks, Eroğlu said he will resume talks with Christofias as early as midst May, criticizing Greek Cypriot government spokesperson’s remarks on Presidential elections of TRNC.trt
