Residents of Nardaran settlement have today held a picket in Imam Huseyn square protesting against Israel’s military operations in Gaza Strip.
APA reports that the picketers chanted slogans “Israel, US are terrorists!”, “Death to US and Israel!”, “Death to American Zionism!” “George Bush – number one terrorist!”, “Jerusalem is ours!”. Nardaran resident Haji Ali Huseynov said Muslim countries should take measures to prevent this massacre.
“Arabic leaders’ indifference towards the happenings means supporting Israel,” he said.
Haji Feyyaz Nabizadeh condemned the countries supporting Israel. He demanded closure of Israeli embassy in Azerbaijan and called on Azerbaijani Muslims to unite against the world Zionism.
Nardaran resident Mashadi Mehman Mammadov wanted chairman of Caucasian Muslims Office Sheikh-ul-Islam Haji Allahshukur Pashazadeh to take a stance on the happenings in Palestine.
Other Nardaran residents also called on Azerbaijan to review its relations with Israel.
The picketers burned effigies of US President George Bush, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and flags of the US and Israel.apa
Nardaran is a religious center governed mainly by Iranian officials. Many people are traveling in and out of the region with money and arm provided by foreigners, especially by Iranian government. Nardaran is a major threat to Azerbaijan and will be the center of Islamic extremism in near future. Warning had been given many times in BayBak regarding the issue; however, Azerbaijani government seems to not giving attention to the raising problem.
