Turkey’s Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu will visit opposition leaders to give further information about the protocol agreed by Turkey and Armenia for normalization of relations.
Having remarked that the Assembly will have final say on the move, DavutoÄŸlu had made a preliminary informative meeting with Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Mehmet Ali Åžahin.
Foreign Minister DavutoÄŸlu plans to come together with opposition leaders before the beginning of new legislative year and the UN General Assembly gathering in New York scheduled for 21 September.
On Tuesday, Davutoğlu will meet chairman of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) Deniz Baykal, who had said that his party will not grant approval for the drive unless Armenian invasion in Azerbaijan ends.
Meanwhile, the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) refused to hold a meeting with DavutoÄŸlu, citing that the protocol should be publicized and discussed in the Turkish Grand National Assembly.
DavutoÄŸlu is also scheduled to come together with leaders of the Democratic Left Party (DSP) and the Felicity Party (SP) on the same day.
On Wednesday, the Foreign Minister will visit headquarters of the Democratic Party (DP) and the Great Union Party (BBP).
The Foreign Minister’s scheduled visit to the Democratic Society Party (DTP) will probably be cancelled at a later date due to chairman Ahmet Türk’s planned visit to northern Iraq.
After concluding his talks with opposition leaders, DavutoÄŸlu will inform the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers about outcomes of his contacts.
Finally, the Armenian drive will be taken up in the Assembly.trt
