DavutoÄŸlu saying that even Israeli newspapers qualify it as the Netanyahu report also warned the EU, which is constantly putting obstacles before Turkey, against being swept away by sterile discussions
DavutoÄŸlu said the following about Israel’s Mavi Marmara report: “As some Israeli newspapers have stressed, this is not an impartial report, it is as they put it a ‘Netanyahu report’ whose claim of objectivity cannot be accepted at all. Finding this report reliable and impartial is also unacceptable in terms of the principles of international law and we have conveyed our view on this matter both to Washington and the US officials in Ankara.”
Davutoğlu also brought clarity to the participation of Ambassador Ertan Tezgör in the Holocaust Memorial Day in Istanbul and said it has nothing to do with Turkey-Israel relations.
He said Turkey is ready to share the suffering of its citizens no matter what their origins are and will continue doing so. He noted that however Turkey will insist on its clear attitude against Israel in the face of its unbinding stance on international law.
When asked about the obstacles put in front of Turkey by the EU, Foreign Minister DavutoÄŸlu said: “We hope that the EU will view Turkey’s accession not on the basis of sterile discussions but with a long-term vision and will contribute to the development of bilateral relations. If an attitude of this kind is not to be embraced, Turkey, despite the importance of EU accession, will stay the course within the framework of its foreign policy strategy, perspective and domestic reform process, all of which are based on deep-rooted foundations.”trt
