Dear sir/madam,
COMMUNICATION: UPDATE NO 7 REGARDING THE CASE OF MR.ABBAS LEYSANLI
Please find enclosed Update 7 to our Communication on Mr. Abbas Leysanli for safeguarding his national and human rights violated by Iranian authorities. Mr. Leysanli is the veteran protagonist of the national movement of Southern Azerbaijan currently ruled by Iran. In this update we will present three major events on the violation of human rights of Mr. Leysanli and show that the authorities invent new dimensions to keep violating his human rights but the big picture is that in this way they are hoping to maintain their hegemony over Southern Azerbaijan as long as they are appeased by democratic countries. The major events are summarised below for your attention:
1. Table 1.1 presents an authentic news item according to which the authorities have ordered Mr. Leysanli to be kept at the mental wing of Erdebil prison. Clearly the agile mind of Mr. Leysanli has recognised this as a conspiracy and refused to obey the order. The threat has not been removed and your intervention is of the paramount importance.
2. Table 2.1 outlines the outcome of an appeal court confirming a verdict of one year punitive imprisonment for one or two of past arbitrary cases brought to Mr. Leysanli by Iranian authorities. As detailed in our original Communication (Ref: 378/ 2006 on: 10 September 2006), Iranian authorities are persecuting him through some 5 or 6 arbitrary cases. We concur with Amnesty International through their repeated Urgent Actions that these cases are arbitrary and we hope you are active towards their repeal.
3. Table 3.1 presents an Interview carried out by a reporter when Mr. Leysanli was taken to a hospital treatment. Here we learn that Iranian authorities are threatening Mr. Leysanli for a conditional release setting a trap for gagging him in a systematic way. Once again his integrity prevails when he states that “I will not accept any conditions to be imposed on me. Our activities are transparent and based on demanding our natural and human rights which is profoundly non-negotiable.â€
Mr. Leysanli symbolises the national movement of the nation of Southern Azerbaijan and we have been reflecting to you the depth of violation of his national and human rights by the Iranian authorities. The documents provided you bear a clear witness that he is an exceptional person with the mission to safeguard the principles of human rights deep at the hinterland of Iranian racism. Justice for Mr. Leysanli can only be realised by your mandates. We thank you in advance for your kind support.
