Today we are celebrating the 86th Anniversary of our great victory at Dumlupinar, which was the final battle of the Turkish War of Independence.
The Battle of Dumlupinar began on August 26 1922 and ended with a decisive Turkish victory under Mustafa Kemal’s leadership on August 30. This date became one of the greatest turning points in Turkish history, symbolizing the end of the centuries old Eastern Question. The Turkish victory of August 30 not only prompted the reversal of the unlawful imperialist invasion which had started in 1919, but also paved the way for the Kemalist Revolution in the years to follow.
On this important date, the Assembly of Turkish American Associations commemorates those who died for our country during the War of Independence and once again remembers Mustafa Kemal Ataturk’s everlasting legacy.ataa
