Azerbaijani Prosecutor General: Necessary steps will be taken about any official having relation to the case

“The reports in some newspapers about death of 200 in building collapse in Yasamal district are groundless. General Prosecutor’s Office and Emergencies Ministry regularly inform about the situation,†APA reports quoting Prosecutor General Zakir Garalov.
Asked whether any official can be held accountable regarding the case the Prosecutor General said that four have been detained so far.
“They are chiefs and executive of the company. They are responsible for the construction. Representation has been sent to the court about their arrest. State commission set up by president’s order is also dealing with the case. The case is in President’s attention. If the investigation defines that an official was negligent, necessary measures will be taken,†he said.
Prosecutor General said that expert examinations and material evidences taken from the site proved that the construction was substandard.
“No labor agreement was signed with the workers,†he said.
The Prosecutor General underlined that it is impossible to say the exact number of those trapped under the wreckage as the workers and other persons lived on the lower floors and there were ordered extra workers on these floors.apa
