Arrest of chief of Baku Mayor’s Office Housing Cooperative Office Akif Maharramov has been officially confirmed. Spokesman for General Prosecutor’s Office Vugar Aliyev told APA that Akif Maharramov faces charges under article 308.1 (abuse of power) of criminal code. He was detained on September 4. Yasamal district court arrested him.

The source said that decision on Maharramov’s detention was passed in connection with the investigation on the collapse of high-rise building in Murtuza Mukhtarov street, 185, in Yasamal district. Giving warrant to the newly-built houses is in the competence of Baku Housing Cooperative Office.
The number of those arrested for this case reached five with Akif Maharramov’s detention.
Director general of Mutafakkir construction company Ali Muradov, chief engineer Asgar Aliyev, foremen Farhad Hasanov and Gadir Salimov were arrested for three- month term.apa
