As you may already know that Iran is a multi-ethnic country consisting of different ethnic groups with Persian and Azerbaijanis represent two major ethnic groups meanwhile Kurds, Arabs, Baluchis, Turkmen and Lori together represent roughly between 15 and 25% of the population. Some fact books in the world estimate Iranian Azerbaijanis as much as 24 % meanwhile other sources like United Nation sponsored institute [3] Ethnologue.com estimates as many as 38%. However, regardless these figures on ethnic groups, all of non-Persian groups are deprived of their basic human rights on language and other civil rights associated with the individual identity. And thereby can anybody who argument for human right be detained.

Currently more than 20 Azerbaijanis are arrested and we are seriously concerned about their situation in the jails regarding the respect for constitutional and civil rights of prisoners. We also argue the Iranian authorities to immediately and unconditionally release all prisoners of conscience.
