Historical monuments, including burial mounds like Maiden Kurgan in Lachin Region of Azerbaijan occupied by Armenians are under the threat of destruction because of Armenian mine actions in this territory, Public Union for Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments of Occupied Territories of Azerbaijan told APA.
It was reported that Armenians are destroying the ancient historical monuments of Azerbaijan under the pretence of mine action. Now they are cleaning territory of Gulabird, Cicimli and Suarasi villages of Azerbaijan bordering with Armenia. They consider cutting of valuable species of trees like Red Oak, Eldar pine tree and others, which noted in Red Book. The valuable woods will be exported to France, Britain, Germany and the Netherlands. The Armenians intend to begin construction of Lachin-Kalbajar, Istisu-Zod-Chermuk highways to accelerate carrying of Karabakh’s natural resources to Armenia.
The public Union said Armenia gave special attention to Lachin Region of Azerbaijan and built hospital, bank, lime refinery, computer center, diamond refinery, wood plant and communal facilities there. Armenia, Russian and Iraqi citizens settled in Lachin are receiving interest-free loans and are free from the taxes.apa
