Russian Federal Security Service Office in Dagestan and Anti-Extremism Office of the Dagestan Interior Ministry arrested the citizens of nine countries, including 7 Azerbaijani and one Turkish, in Izberbash City of the republic.
They attempted to involve people in the “nurcu†movement banned in Russia. Arrested Turkish citizen Ali Ihsan Erdemr, 44 was a coordinator of “nurcu†supporters in Russia. Erdemir reportedly visited Moscow, St Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Kostroma, Yaroslavl, Kazan and Krasnoyarsk cities and discussed the further plans with “nurcu†supporters. $ 72 000 account bills of expenditures for popularization of the movement and number of literatures were found were found in the place of “nurcu†meetings. There were books banned by the court decision as an extremist literature among the found literature.
Russian Supreme Court officially banned the activity of “nurcu†movement in August, 2008. The court characterized it as an extremist movement.apa
