Vali Azariuon is arrested among 3, tow of them teacher

. Vali Azariuon is arrested in Sulduz-Azarbaijan. His brother Tovhid was shot dead last years demonstrations in Sulduz (Nagadeh).

At the same time 2 teachers were arrested too.
Karim Nayimi, Faramarz Golamzadeh and Mir Ali Rezayi are sent to Urmu’s (Urmieh) centeral prison.

Lugovoi’s statement
The man suspected of poisoning ex-KGB agent Alexander Litvinenko has said it could not have happened without the involvement of British secret services.
Andrei Lugovoi, who denies killing Mr Litvinenko, told a Moscow news conference that he was a scapegoat.

Changiz Bakhtavar is transfered to Tabriz prisonç after 11 days of torture

. Mr Bakhtavar is one of Azarbaijani human rights activists. He was in costudy for 11 days and was turtured by Ettelaat.

Yesterday judge Bahoosh sent him to prison with no charge yet.

His family have no access to him and worried about his health. Mr. Bakhtavar was beaten and kept in a very bad condition in Ettelaat.

UN approves Hariri murder court

. The court’s creation is the subject of intense political debate in Lebanon.

Mr Hariri and 22 others were killed in a massive car bomb in the capital, Beirut, on 14 February 2005.

Lebanon now has until 10 June to ratify the proposal, otherwise the Security Council may independently authorise a tribunal, as it did in Rwanda and the former Yugoslavia.

Terry Davis: I hope Karabakh conflict will be settled by the start of presidential elections in Armenia and Azerbaijan

Terry Davis said the elections will have no impact on the settlement of conflict and hoped for the solution of the problem by the start of elections. “It is within the interests of both Azerbaijan and Armenian people”. He also stressed that education, health and other social fields will be paid more attention if the conflict is settled.

After 1 week, there is no news about Esrafil Soltani

. Last week Ettelaat forces arrested Mr. Soltani, in Khalkhal-Azarbaijan and took him to costudy. His family were told to not to ask any question or report to any one about what happend on that night.

Since then there is no news of Mr. Soltani. He is disabled and has to be monitored regularly.

Editor in chief of Oyanish is arrested in Urmu

. Mehdi Haj Mohammadi is the editor in chief of Oyanish magazine which is publishing in 2 languages, Azarbaijani Turkish and Farsi.

This morning he was arrested by Ettelaat forces and taken to an unknown place.

Oyanish has been rewarded several times for its articles and activities.

IRAN Hossein Forouhideh, also known as Khatibi (m), Iraj Naji (m), his cousin – Death penalty/torture

. Hossein Forouhideh, an advocate of linguistic and social rights for Iranians of Azerbaijani ethnicity, is reportedly facing imminent execution.

He has allegedly been tortured. His cousin, Iraj Naji, is in solitary confinement and Amnesty International fears that he may be at risk of torture or ill-treatment.

Hossein Forouhideh, from the Khoy region of Iran’s West Azerbaijan province, was reportedly sentenced to death by Bench One of the Revolutionary Court in the city of Urumiye, in West Azerbaijan province. China food boss sentenced to death

US asked to destroy Kurdish bases

Musavat activists held rally in Novkhani

. Musavat activists held a rally in front of the monument of Mammadamin Rasulzade, founder of ADR in Novkhani settlement on occasion of Independence day. Panah Huseynov, MP addressing the rally said he believed Azerbaijan’s bright future lied with Musavat ideas.

He welcomed Turks fighting for freedom in Iran. Rais Rasulzade, grandchild of M.Rasulzade stressed M.Rasulzade was the first president of Azerbaijan and expressed sorrow that the fact was being concealed from the youth.

Russia to test Iskander tactical missile systems on May 29

. The tests will take place at a testing range near Znamensk in the Astrakhan region, he said, adding that he will attend them with Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov, Interfax reports.

Iskander is a short range, solid fuel propelled, theater quasiballistic missile produced in Russia.
